The Grandmothers in the garden!

I never get tired of all the different pets my friends have. I knew that my friend Quinton had a few chickens. What I didn't know was how much personality his hens had. When he told me that they were named after his, and his partners Matts, grandmothers and one of his neighbors I knew they would be fun.

There's Mrs Personality Ernestina.

Then there is Ida. Ida also has a bright personality and loves chasing fireflies.....

LuLu is the quiet one. She has been broody for most of my stay and only comes out a couple times a day.... When she does it's usually for a dust bath.

Last but not least is Christina. She is a little bit reserved but don't let that fool you, she likes to get herself in trouble!  Here she is with Ernestina trying to see what tasty morsel Matt is digging up for them....

They keep themselves busy all day long

Motel Miguel has been parked in the back garden so technically I'm in their territory, which they are happy to share with me!

I arrived in early June and the cement had been poured for the small garden aviary Quinton was having built.

They can usually be found on the deck....

On top of tools....

Helping to plant trees.....

When it's time for lunch they make sure you share it with them....

They make sure it's not poultry you are eating!

Christine being broody. She doesn't get to keep any of Ernestinas or Ida's eggs since they aren't fertile.

LuLu coming in to help Christine out with the imaginary clutch....

Ida inspecting the new window....

Ida, Ernestina and LuLu usually greet me in the early morning as I'm getting ready to go for my walk....

Ernestina getting some love from Kyle....

Whenever little Annabelle comes over for a visit she likes to chase the ladies around the garden. That usually gets her some time out!

They take their inspection job very seriously making sure that doors are hung properly!

But at the end of the day if you want to find them they are usually tilling soil wherever they aren't supposed to be!

I have had many chickens in my life and really enjoy them. These four Grandmoms have really been a good part of entertainment while I stay in Nashville. I'm sure going to miss them!
