Modie Mowrer wedding to Aisha Vonstetten

I had the pleasure of attending another beautiful wedding yesterday, Saturday September 19, 2015. This one was for dear friends of the friends I'm currently spending September with Carol and Annmarie. Their names were Modie Mowrer and Aisha Vonstetten and now they will be known as Modie and Aisha Mowrer.

We all got ready, Carol and Annmarie looked beautiful.

On the way to the ceremony we drove past Modie and Aisha's home. We thought we were running late but thankfully they had not left yet!

We arrived and many people were just getting there so we knew we were good on time.

The ceremony was held at the Rocky Ridge Parks Chestnut Oak Pavilion. The setting was beautifully decorated and being that it was held outside with a slight breeze blowing through the trees added some nice early fall ambiance.

Every seat in the place was filled.
Annmarie, Carol and I were ready with our cameras.
Lots of beautiful people were in attendance.

The ceremony was officiated by Matt Moewrer.

After the wedding was done everyone got ready to move on to the reception held at the Wisehaven Banquet Hall.
The wedding party was beautiful. They had lesbian and straight couples and what I couldn't stop thinking about was how natural this all felt.

I loved that each couple in the wedding party had matching converse shoes of a different color but together they all made the rainbow.

The seating chart was at the entrance and it was neatly displayed on old windows with pictures of the couple.

Carol and I displaying our rainbow ink used to add a leaf onto a memory tree where we also each signed our name onto. This was a beautiful idea that unfortunately I didn't get a picture of.

It all started with each couple in the wedding party coming down a staircase as they were introduced by the dj. Once all the couples were introduced it was Modie and Aisha's turn. They came down as they lip synced a song to each other. Here's a link to the video I captured of it. It's on YouTube because it's to long for blogger to insert.

The hall was full of gorgeous people celebrating.

The first dance along with their daughter.

Dinner was served and the cake was cut. The garter and bouquet were tossed. Then the dancing started. We were tired by this time and decided to come home. The dancing is now left for the younger generation!

As a final thought I couldn't stop thinking of how traditional and normal this all was. I told myself that this wasn't a lesbian wedding but rather just a wedding. This wedding didn't have all of the media attention and celebrity personnel that April and Jaynes wedding had last month when I was in Michigan. It had family, friends, tradition, celebration of love and lifetime commitment to one another but it especially had normalcy to it.

Thank you Modie....
And thank you Aisha....
For including me in on your special day. I wish you a lifetime of love and celebration with each other.

  3. This is stunning wedding!! The church weddings are always stunning. You know we had intimate wedding at the church and threw the reception party at domestic Chicago event space on next day. This way we enjoyed both the events without any worries.
